Posters for a cause

bad photo compliments of my phone

If you’re in Minneapolis tomorrow and want to see sweet posters and support a good cause, then head on down to the SooVAC Gallery for the Toys In the Attic Show. We (redblackbrown) submitted two posters to the show. We decided to do a boys vs. girls theme so our three guys did their poster and I collaborated with the other two girls. We had a great time coming up with our poster (all of them are themed around toys) and spent a wonderful evening drawing girly barbie clothes. Which, for this girl who didn’t ever play with barbies, was a pretty interesting experience. So anyway, we’re thrilled with the way both of the posters turned out and are excited to see the rest of them tomorrow night!

Here are the details if you are in the area:

TOYS IN THE ATTIC 2009 will take place @ the Soo Visual Arts Center this year. The Soo is located @ 2640 Lyndale Avenue in South Minneapolis [Map]

Hours will be 6pm-9pm on Friday, December 4th* / Silent Auction ends @ 8:30pm, sharp. *Remaining prints available 11am-4pm on Saturday.

The event will feature limited edition / signed poster prints from local artists ($30) and custom toys from national artists (silent auction). All of the toys and door donations, plus 25% of print & custom toy sales, go to Toys for Tots.

THE TOY DRIVE
Guests are asked to help out children in need by bringing a new (unwrapped) toy* to the show. In return, you’ll get one** of the event official poster prints designed this year by Minneapolis artist Lonny Unitus.

*No military based toys such as guns, please / **While supplies last.

If you forget your toy, there is a suggested donation of $1-$5 at the door. All toys and door donations go directly to Toys for Tots. In addition, 25% of poster print and custom toys sales are also used to purchase new toys for the Toys for Tots program, which distributes the toys to children in need.

THE ART PRINTS
Local artists are invited to create a limited edition run of toy-inspired art prints for sale at the event – each print is numbered and signed. All poster prints are sold for $30 (unframed).

THE CUSTOM TOYS
Custom toy artists from around the world are invited to donate a unique toy for our silent auction. The minimum bid for each toy is $50.
